Happy Holidays from Vault Aviation & Our Safety for On Demand Private Planes

2020 has been a tough year in many ways. From personal to professional, this year has been one of upheaval and change. Vault Aviation hasn’t been immune to these changes and curveballs, however, we are so very thankful for our clients, families, team, and more.

Vault Aviation has had the pleasure of connecting families, sport, and work teams over the past 12 months in a safe and luxurious way. We have always kept safety as our highest priority, but this year we upped that even more with COVID-19 and our cleaning regulations and precautions.

Even during a pandemic (maybe especially during a pandemic), having time to unwind matters, and we are thankful that we have been able to provide much-needed relaxation and restoration to many of our clients and their families and friends this year as well – all with the highest safety measures and cares.

Vault Aviation & Our Commitment to Safety

Our pricing and service are how we provide value to our clients, but our safety is even more important. At Vault Aviation, we abide by the Platinum Rule: Never book a client on a plane we wouldn’t board ourselves.

We value getting you and your group to their destination safely, which is why we use only select safety-audited operators who comply with ARGUS or Wyvern safety standards. These safety groups are some of the strictest and help us and our clients have peace of mind every time you board one of our On Demand private planes.

“Vault only sources aircraft from FAR Part 135 Charter Operators, and we mandate that they carry a minimum of $50,000,000 in insurance and show no history of damage or irregular maintenance events.”

Plus, each of our planes is flown by 2 highly-qualified pilot crews. Vault Aviation will never charter a plane with only a single pilot – no exceptions. Our safety checklist includes:

  • Audits from The Aviation Research Group US (“ARGUS”) or Wyvern
  • Audits for the operator’s maintenance records, flight history, & insurance coverage
  • Audits for the frequency of inspections, & meeting/exceeding FAA standards
  • Considerations of pilot training, flight hours, and pilot medical records

For Operators, ARGUS Has a Four-Tier Rating System:

  1. Does Not Qualify,
  2. Gold
  3. Gold Plus
  4. Platinum

Wyvern Safety Ratings & PASS:

Vault Aviation also references Wyvern Safety Ratings as an additional layer of safety for pilots, not just our On Demand aircraft and ARGUS. Wyvern performs a second audit on the operator, the aircraft, and the pilots by running a Pilot & Aircraft Safety Survey (“PASS”) report.

The “PASS” report details everything from pilot hours to medical certifications. The following information is included in a “PASS” report:

  • Verification that a charter operator holds a current Air Operating Certificate
  • Verification that the aircraft being chartered is listed on the air carrier’s Operations Specifications
  • Confirmation of current insurance for the aircraft
  • Confirmation that each crew member’s experience meets a specific safety standard
  • Confirmation that each crew member’s medical and license information is current
  • Confirmation that the operator has Civil Aviation Authority approval for international operations at chosen locations

FAA Approved FAR Part 135 Charter Operators:

Vault exclusively sources aircraft from FAA approved FAR Part 135 Charter Operators. FAR Part 135 are the federal laws governing everything from airworthiness of an aircraft to record-keeping practices to ensure you are safe, and the records are accurate.

The Charter Operators employ the pilots, handle the maintenance, and remain in operational control of the charter flights at all times. Operational Control refers to the safe operation of an aircraft during a charter flight. Essentially, it means that the pilots are in control and all decisions about the flight are made by them to assure the safety of the passengers and the aircraft.

Vault maintains close relationships with the private jet charter industry’s top operators. These relationships allow us to have preferential access to the safest and most luxurious aircraft available for charter, each of which is flown by the most experienced crews in the industry!

Safety & COVID-19:

In addition to our high-safety in regard to aircraft, pilots, audits, and maintenance records, Vault Aviation is committed to safety and cleanliness to prevent the spread of COVID. By ensuring that every private plane is clean, disinfected, and in perfect order for your needs, your group, and your safety, we take pride in our ability to keep you safe from the moment you board our plane, until the moment your feet touch the ground at your final destination.

Vault Aviation is Thankful for You!

Vault Aviation acts as an agent on behalf of you to arrange every aspect of your charter flight, safety, and more! Vault’s loyalty is 100% with our clients, and we have no formal arrangements with any individual aircraft operators that would prevent us from getting you the best plane at the best price.

This means there is never any conflict of interest or outside pressure. We are always working exclusively for your benefit and we will never compromise on quality or safety!

What’s the Best Private Flight Option?

Over the past half-decade, there has been a steady decline in fractional ownership and full ownership of private jets. This is for many reasons, but especially because there are more options now for private jet charters.

Many individuals are moving towards more affordable options with more flexibility and greater choice – after all, you may only want a Light Jet for one trip but a Super Midsize or Heavy Cabin Jet for another, so owning just one jet of only one size may not be the best option for your varied needs.

Full Private Jet Ownership

The advantages are clear for owning your own private jet – you own it, meaning you have full control over times, dates, customer services, amenities, personalized features, and frequency of use.

But strengths can also be weaknesses.

Whole or full ownership means you, fully own just one aircraft, and this aircraft has to fit all of your varied needs – for work, pleasure, long-haul, and short flights. This also means no multi-departures or availability during maintenance. Additionally, there are extra repositioning fees, high initial costs, steep depreciation, and very high capital at low levels of use.

So, do the positives outweigh the negatives? For some flyers, it might! But for many, full ownership is just too high of a cost for little flexibility or variety.

For some clients, whole ownership and the associated fees (anywhere from $700,000 to $4 million in maintenance and continued costs per year) are not a deterrent for the convenience and clout of having your very own private aircraft. However, for most private flyers, this is not their preferred option.

Benefits of full private jet ownership:

  • Full control over your aircraft
  • High levels of services, customization, and initial choice
  • Low costs with high levels of use

Cons of full private jet ownership:

  • High initial investment
  • Aggressive depreciation
  • High costs with low levels of use
  • No use during maintenance
  • One aircraft for all trips – short, long, international, overnight, large group, etc.

Fractional Private Jet Ownership

Fractional ownership can most easily be explained as if you are buying a share of a fleet or plane, but issues similar to timeshares can come up because of this, in particular, the sharing.

If you are spending at the very least 100,000 dollars, then often fractional owners have difficulties agreeing on usage times, dates, and heavy-flying periods, even if the fleet is large.

Additionally, there is a time commitment involved, anything from 3-7 years, which might not be convenient for all fractional owners. How can you know your travel needs for the next 7 years? What if you find yourself needing more in-air hours or fewer? What if you require international private jet flights and your company doesn’t cater to that need? Or what if you find the service or aircraft not up to expected standards and are then locked in for multiple more years at a high cost?

It is important to note as well that there is a higher cost at a higher level of utilization for most fractional ownerships, meaning those who use private jets often are not getting the best deal from fractional ownership.

Benefits of private jet fractional ownership:

  • Sharing of costs, responsibilities, depreciation, and maintenance
  • Low costs with low utilization

Cons of private jet fractional ownership:

  • Long-term commitment
  • Sharing availability on heavy travel dates
  • Lack of flexibility for your in-air hours over the course of your time contract
  • High costs with high levels of utilization
    • The highest cost for flyers of over 150 hours per year
    • Paying for hours in addition to reoccurring ownership/management costs
    • Upfront costs can be hundreds of thousands of dollars for 1/16th ownership

On Demand Private Jet Charters

In recent years, private jet brokerage companies have found the sweet spot between technology, customer services, and inventory in order to best serve the needs of their clients. However, there are downsides to this as well, and they all stem from your brokerage and their experienced and connections in the industry.

If your broker is not full-service, as Vault Aviation is, you might have to book through multiple operators – costing you more of your time, energy, and money. This is why it is imperative to find yourself working with a full-service broker who is able to find whatever you want, whenever you want, and do it all themselves.

Benefits of On Demand private jet charters:

  • No investment in a depreciating asset
  • No fixed costs or fees
  • No contracts or time commitments
  • Only pay for the hours you use
  • More flexibility for changes in hours, days, number of flights or aircraft desired
  • Lowest cost for flyers of 50-500 hours per year

Cons of On Demand private jet charters:

  • Less control over availability if your broker isn’t well connected
  • Might need several operators if your broker isn’t full-service

If you fly under 50 hours a year, fractional ownership could be a good option for you. If you fly over 500 hours a year, then fully owning a private jet might be worth the high ticket price. But for anyone between 50 and 500 hours – a private jet charter is the answer.

Private Charter Jets to Miami, Las Vegas, & Dallas for the Holidays

Whether you are a regular snowbird or not, this year definitely deserves a vacation, and the holidays are a great time to try somewhere warm and bright. Of course, you should stay safe and follow all guidelines per the CDC and the location you are visiting, including keeping your group small, washing your hands often, and following social distancing rules. But even with these guidelines, you can still make the best of this winter.

In fact, recent studies show that a Vitamin D deficiency may worsen the severity of COVID-19 symptoms and that lower levels of Vitamin D have been linked to more critical cases. This means that enjoying some sun and relaxation is not only good for your mental health but your physical health as well!

Whether you are looking for a way to escape the cold or simply want a change in scenery after months in your home, we have some great options for our favorite private charter jet destinations, like Miami, Las Vegas, or Dallas.

Visit Miami & Forget the Cold

With our private jet charters to Miami, there are never blackout dates, holiday spikes, or long lines, just you, the beach, that Vitamin D, and your own personal getaway.

Did you know that the ‘Snowbird Season’ in Florida is November through May? Unfortunately, this often means flights are more expensive, fuller, and airports are busier. But the safest (and most private) way to travel is on your own chartered plane.

There are two distinct vacation styles you can take in Miami – exciting and vibrant or relaxed and lounging, and while many things are at limited capacity or have COVID guidelines imposed, we recommend the relaxed and lounging style this winter.

And at only 1,300 miles from Dallas, Miami is just a hop, skip, and a jump away! Meaning your flight time will be seamless and relaxing, just like the rest of your Miami vacation will be! Save yourself the hassle, the time, and the risk of commercial airports and fly like a champion with Vault Aviation and our private charter jets to Miami instead.

Based in Dallas, We Know Texas Private Flight

Dallas has a little bit of everything and remains one of Vault Aviation’s favorite cities in the US – and not just because we are based in downtown Dallas, though that does help.

Vault Aviation is the premier On Demand private jet charter to (and from) DFW! We provide all different sizes, comfort levels, and price points for your private jet charter to or from Dallas. So, whether you are a local heading out of state to one of our other great destinations or coming in for a visit – get here safely and in style with a private jet charter.

Las Vegas Has Lots to Offer

Las Vegas is not only as warm as ever but quieter than usual right now. So if you always wanted to visit Sin City with only a spoonful of sin instead of a truckload, then 2020 is your year!

And just because Las Vegas doesn’t have the low temperatures conducive for snow, that doesn’t mean they cut back on holiday decorations – take a look at the lights, larger-than-life trees, and other holiday-themes that take over the city this time of year.

A trip to Las Vegas can give you the festive feelings without the frigid air, so feel free to enjoy the mild weather and bright holiday lights, the shows, and food, and have yourself a merry holiday season this year with Vault Aviation in Las Vegas!
