Vault Aviation & Your Safety

While extraordinary pricing and the best customer care are how Vault Aviation provides value to our customers, safety is always our top priority. And not just during a pandemic, but every day on every flight. That’s why we use two audit systems, two pilots, and FAA approval for every private jet charter flight and aircraft we work with.

We run our business by the Platinum Rule: never put a client on a plane we wouldn’t board ourselves.

An Overview: Vault Aviation’s Safety Measures

  • Vault Aviation uses a select group of safety-audited operators who comply with ARGUS or Wyvern safety standards.
  • Vault only sources aircraft from FAR Part 135 Charter Operators.
  • We mandate that all of our operators carry a minimum of $50,000,000 in insurance and show no history of damage or irregular maintenance events.
  • All of our aircraft are flown by two highly qualified pilot crews.
  • Vault Aviation will never charter a plane with a single pilot – no exceptions.

What Is Aircraft Safety Auditing?

Vault Aviation only charters aircraft that have been audited by The Aviation Research Group US (ARGUS) and/or Wyvern.

ARGUS audits an operator’s maintenance records, flight history, insurance coverage, frequency of aircraft inspections, and their ability to exceed FAA standards. Other considerations include pilot training, flight hours, and pilot medical records.

We also reference Wyvern Safety Ratings as an additional layer of protection. Independent of ARGUS, Wyvern allows us to perform a secondary review of the operator, the aircraft, and the two pilots.

Argus Audits

ARGUS has a four-tier rating system:

  • (1) Does Not Qualify
  • (2) Gold
  • (3) Gold Plus
  • (4) Platinum

Prior to your flight, Vault Aviation will request an ARGUS TripCHEQ to ensure that the aircraft, crew, and trip meet all ARGUS standards – making sure that your trip is as safe as it is enjoyable!

Wyvern Audits

The Wyvern Pilot & Aircraft Safety Survey (PASS) report details everything from pilot hours to medical certifications. Here are some of the areas checked in a PASS report:

  • Verification that a charter operator holds a current Air Operating Certificate
  • Verification that the aircraft being chartered is listed on the air carrier’s Operations Specifications
  • Confirmation of current insurance for the aircraft
  • Confirmation that each crew member’s experience meets a specific safety standard
  • Confirmation that each crew member’s medical and license information is current
  • Confirmation that the operator has Civil Aviation Authority approval for international operations at chosen locations

More Than Just Safety Audits…

All of the private jet charters that Vault Aviation sources are piloted by 2 highly experienced pilots: a Pilot-In-Command (PIC) and Second-In-Command (SIC).

While ARGUS Ratings are important to us, we go a step beyond to ensure your safety and comfort!

Vault exclusively sources aircraft from FAA approved FAR Part 135 Charter Operators. FAR Part 135 is a set of federal laws governing everything from an aircraft’s airworthiness to record-keeping practices. The Charter Operators employ the pilots, handle the maintenance, and remain in operational control of the charter flights. Operational Control refers to the safe operation of an aircraft during a charter flight.

Vault maintains close relationships with the industry’s top charter operators. These relationships allow us to have preferential access to the safest aircraft available for charter, which is flown by the industry’s most experienced crews.

Fly Safe | Fly Like a Champion with Vault

Vault Aviation acts as an agent on behalf of our clients to arrange their charter flights with ease, safety, and comfort. Vault’s loyalty is 100% with our clients, as we have no formal arrangements with any individual aircraft operators. Private Jet Charters, Full, or Partial Ownership? [Benefits & Pitfalls of Each]

Private jet travel is clearly the height of comfort, luxury, and convenience, getting you through the air faster (check out last week’s blog to learn about the fastest private jets in production today) and getting you closer to your final destination (with far more private airports than commercial or public ones).

But if private jet travel is so superior to other forms of luxury air travel, how can you know which form is the best private option for you? After all, there are private jet charters, partial or fractional ownership, and full ownership of a private jet. And, of course, every company tells you that whatever they sell is the best option for you – but this can’t be true, one option must fit your travel style and need best.

Vault Aviation thinks that private jet charters are the best option for most private flyers, but not for every private flyer. And that’s what makes us different – we’ll tell you the truth and tell it to you straight, giving you the best advice.

If you are like most private flyers, a private jet charter allows you the flexibility, preference, and luxury of full or partial ownership without all the hassles and higher costs, but there are always exceptions. So, let’s go over the benefits and pitfalls of each: Full Ownership, Partial or Fractional Ownership, and Private Jet Charters to find the best option for you!

Full Ownership Benefits

The first thought that comes to most people’s minds when someone says ‘private jet’ is a billionaire that owns a giant shiny, solid gold jet. However, though this is an exaggeration, the visual power and status symbol of having your own private jet is undeniable.

So, for private flyers with $3-$100 million to spare in an industry that encourages showing clout, full ownership is a great option.

Additionally, for private flyers who travel extensively, over 500 hours a year, full ownership is an investment that you will get full use out of, as there is a relatively low cost at high levels of use.

The final strength is, of course, you have no strings attached, no sharing, and no limits on your fully owned private jet, because you fully own it.

But most strengths are weaknesses in certain situations, and that is true of full ownership as well.

Full Ownership Pitfalls

Full ownership means you fully own one aircraft, but that means you only own one aircraft. So, if you have multiple flights (think of your team or family meeting you somewhere) you might have a difficult time getting everyone to the same place in the same window of time.

Or, if you need a larger aircraft for one trip, like a 10-hour business trip with your entire C-suite, and a small aircraft for a business meeting two hours away – you will have to use the same aircraft for each. This means you will either be wasting space and money by using a large private jet for small flights, or sometimes have too small of a private jet for longer halls.

By having only one private jet at your disposal, you also have zero availability during maintenance periods. And then there are the repositioning fees, sky-high initial cost, steep depreciation, and costly maintenance to worry about. And since you are the sole owner, you are also the sole payer.

Sometimes full ownership is more of a hassle than it’s worth – unless you fly for over 500 hours a year.

Fractional or Partial Ownership Benefits

Fractional or partial ownership was brought into the limelight by Warren Buffett, and it’s a great option for people who know their dates well in advance. Additionally, partial ownership is best for people that do not fly privately often, as there is a lower cost with low utilization.

Another benefit of fractional ownership is that you share a private jet (or fleet of jets), which means you share the cost of ownership, including maintenance and initial buy-in cost. You can choose how many hours or ‘shares’ you have as well, which can give you the flexibility that full ownership might lack.

Often, partial ownership is explained as a timeshare for a fleet or a single private aircraft, but, because it is similar to a timeshare, it has similar issues to a timeshare.

Fractional or Partial Ownership Pitfalls

If you are a partial owner, then it seems intuitive that there are other owners. And therein lies the largest problem with partial ownership – sharing.

Let’s assume you have partial ownership of one private jet, which is more common than multiple or a fleet. If you and one of the other owners want to use the jet at the same time, then one of you will be sorely disappointed. And then what’s the point of paying large sums for a private jet you can’t use when you need to?

Essentially, fractional jet ownership only works if everyone has a hard-set schedule that works perfectly with everyone else’s hard-set schedules.

Private Jet Charter Benefits

Private jet charters allow you to have as many planes at your disposal as you want, without paying full costs, maintenance, or sharing them. Essentially, it is the Uber of private travel, as you simply tell us where you want to go, when, and on what sort of private jet (feel free to be as specific or general as you want) and we will find you the best price on the best jet.

With Vault, we can have you airborne in as little as two hours! And you can choose every aspect of your flight and customize it to match your needs or wants.

Need a heavy cabin jet for that cross-country flight with 12 of your team members? Need a light private jet the next week for only four? We have access to all sizes, makes, and models, so we can get you where you want to be on the jet you want much faster than traditional air travel.

With Vault Aviation, you’ll never have to wait for maintenance, deal with black-out dates, or share again, as we have connections throughout the industry and can always find you a jet, even on the busiest of travel days!

Many of the pitfalls of ownership are avoided with private jet charters, from the initial depreciation of an expensive asset, to the constant maintenance costs, confusing and limiting contracts, minimum or maximum time commitments, or paying for hours you won’t use.

Additionally, private jet charters have the lowest cost for flyers between 50-500 hours a year – this covers the majority of private flyers.

Private Jet Charter Pitfalls

Of course, private jet charters may not be the best choice for everyone, especially if your broker is not well-connected or full-service. If you need to book through multiple operators, costing you more time and money, then you should find a better private jet charter broker or company.

Additionally, if you are looking for a status symbol, or want to keep your plane in your own hanger, private jet charters aren’t for you.

If you only fly under 50 hours a year, fractional ownership might be enough. Or if you fly over 500 hours a year, then your own private jet might gain you more. These are all factors to keep in mind as you decide which form of private jet flight is best for you.

The Fastest Private Jets Right Now [Mach 0.925 & Above]

Private jets charters can be faster than commercial airlines in a multitude of ways: from less waiting in lines, closer airports, faster boarding to take-off times, even actually flying faster (the Bombardier Global 7500, Mach .925, can fly 982 km/hour). This means you get more of your precious time, the one thing that money can’t buy.

Vault Aviation wants you to have more time to do what you want, and less time traveling from place to place. Whether it’s for a vacation, meeting, conference, or the big game – we want to get you there faster and in luxury.

Check out the amazing leaps that Private Jet Charters have made in speed and luxury, and see our list of the fastest private jets right now!

Mach 0.925 Private Jets:

Bombardier Global 7500

With a top speed of Mach 0.925 (982 kilometers per hour) Bombardier Global 7500 is tied for 2nd (along with 2 other Mach 0.925 private jets) as one of the fastest private jet models on the market today. This powerful jet can get you from coast to coast (like LA to NYC) in under 4 hours. That saves you anywhere from 1 to 3 hours per flight when compared to commercial in-air time, not to mention the hours saved by not arriving 2 hours early, waiting in lines, waiting to board, waiting to take off, waiting to de-plane, etc.

Do you fly often? Then think of how those hours can add up. A faster jet (and a private jet experience instead of commercial flight) can quickly give you multiple days back!

The Bombardier Global 7500 private jet has a range of 7,700 nmi (nautical miles) or 14,300 km. That makes international flights a breeze as well. New York to Hong Kong? Seoul to LA? This powerful and efficient jet offers non-stop capabilities with an impressive combination of range, speed, and comfort.

The Bombardier Global 7500 has the capability to fly your entire team wherever they need to be, too. With seating for up to 19 passengers, this is a great option for political teams, sports teams, or corporate teams headed to a conference.

Flying overnight? The Global has 4 suites and a special Crew suite for extra privacy. The Master has a permanent bed and a stand-up shower, so you won’t even feel like you’re flying. Only flying for work? Then the Conference suite, which can seat a team of 6, is the perfect location for your next meeting, including a conference table and wall-mounted TV.

Gulfstream G500

The Gulfstream G500 is a twin jet that also boasts a top speed of Mach 0.925. However, it has a slightly shorter range of 5,200 nmi or right around 9,600 km. If you are looking for speed with a little less space, or if you’ll be staying domestic, then the Gulfstream G500 is a great option.

This private jet can accommodate 13 passengers with quiet cabins, panoramic views, and state-of-the-art communication systems. This awarded private jet (2019 Flying Innovation Award for its technology and safety) is the perfect mix between comfort and power, speed and safety, as it can get you where you need to go fast, while enjoying the travel and keeping you safe along the way.

Innovation like the Gulfstream G500 (and its larger option, the G600) is exactly what Vault Aviation wants to see more of in the industry – and we are proud of the great strides in comfort, speed, and safety that Gulfstream has been pursuing for decades!

Of course, safety is one of our pillars at Vault jet, which is why Gulfstream is one of our favorite private jet creators.

Gulfstream G650 /650 ER

The Gulfstream G650ER is the current record-holder for the farthest, fastest flight in business history. It flew non-stop from Singapore to Tucson in just under 15 and a half hours, making their average speed over 950 km/h! That’s taking you around the world in under one good night’s sleep and an average workday.

Though the Gulfstream G650 has a top speed of Mach 0.925 just like the above two private jets, and a slightly lower range than the Bombardier Global 7500 (at 7,500 nm or 13,900 km) it holds the record for consistent speed and distance, and that’s nothing to sniff at.

The Gulfstream G650/650 ER is powered by two engines, each producing 17,000 pounds-force, which is a draw for many flyers. This private jet can seat 11 or 18 passengers, giving plenty of space for your group, whether you’re flying for business or pleasure. And with the full kitchen and bar, you’ll feel like you are in a sky-hotel more than on a private jet.

Mach 0.935 Private Jet

Cessna Citation X+

You asked and we provide – here is the fastest private jet as of right now!

It has been certified by the FAA at Mach 0.935 or just over 990 km/h! This private aircraft made by Cessna has a maximum range of 3,460 nmi (6,410 km) which is considerably less than the above options, but with the calling card of being the fastest private jet in the sky – those 6,000 miles will still get you far in less time. The Citation X is also powered by two engines and features a glass cockpit for maximum views.

The Cessna Citation X+ can seat up to 12 passengers in addition to a crew of 2. It also has extra-large and comfortable seats, a galley and large bathroom. And though this aircraft is a bit smaller, it makes up for it in speed. And with the modest price of just over 23 million, it is the least expensive private jet on this list!

Not looking to spend over 20 million on a quickly depreciating private jet? Consider private jet charters and fly on any plane at any time to any destination!
